peanut butter cookies

Peanut butter cookies
1 cup peanut butter (I used crunchy)
1/2 cup palm sugar
1 egg

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together. (Tip: spray the measuring cup with cooking spray before you put in the peanut butter to keep it from sticking.) Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, and drop spoonfuls of batter onto the sheet. Flatten cookies, and bake for 8-10 minutes.

crash hot potatoes

One day, we had a pack of leftover King’s Hawaiian rolls (the grocery store includes them in their fried/rotisserie chicken meals), so we decided to make slider burgers.  Needing a side dish, I was inspired to make the Pioneer Woman’s Crash Hot Potatoes.

feta dip

Years ago, while visiting Athens, Georgia, I received a recommendation for a fantastic restaurant called The Grill.  Everything there was AMAZING and I highly recommend it if you’re visiting the area.  I enjoyed the burger, I enjoyed the fries, but what I enjoyed most of all was the delicious, delicious feta dip.  I could have eaten several servings of it on its own.
For ages I tried to find a recipe that was similar to their dip, and I think I’ve finally found it.  It’s not exactly the same, but it’s just as delicious.

corn dog muffins

I’m a big fan of 7-Eleven’s corn dog rollers.  They’re less greasy and more cornbready than regular corn dogs, but they’re still probably not that great for you.  To be honest, it’s probably hard to make a healthy corn dog, but at least with these, you know what you’re putting in them, and it’s a fair bit cheaper. :)
These corn dog muffins are great for lunch, a snack, or party food.  The mix I prefer (Aldi brand) is slightly sweet, just like the ones from 7-Eleven.  These are also super simple to make!

awesome blog of the day

Love nails? Love burgers? Then you should follow Nailburgerlar! Each post is a person with gorgeous nails holding a delicious burger.  You can get great ideas for new polishes and manicures, find inspiration for homemade burgers, and guess what?  Each post includes a quick review of the burger, so you can find great new restaurants to visit.  I know I’ll be going to The Burger’s Priest, who knows what you might find!

hubig's pies

I’m a huge fan of Hubig’s Pies. (My favorites are the coconut and the chocolate!)  My father would bring back as many as he could fit in his freezer (he’s a truck driver) every time he drove through Louisiana.  Other times, we’d order them by the case.
However, the Hubig’s factory suffered a devastating fire a couple of weeks ago, and the building was completely destroyed.
Hubig’s Pies are an important part of the history of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.  The entire community is rallying together to help the factory rebuild.
How can you help?

oreo pudding cookies

Have you ever checked out plainchicken.com? There are some amazing recipes on there, like THIS ONE! I substituted 1 cup white chocolate chips for 1 cup of the semisweet, because it seemed to go with the Oreo theme.

A quick story, and an article you should read

Carrying on from our earlier post about tattooing (and why people need to leave the Wiggles the hell alone), I got my philtrum pierced this weekend. If you don’t know what a philtrum is, it’s that little divot between your nose and your upper lip. It’s my first oral piercing, and even though it’s still quite swollen (I closely resemble a duck right now), I’m really happy with it. Today at work I was asked the following: “why would you ruin your beautiful body like that?”

Well, first of all, thanks? I do love my body. My answer, as always, was “the more holes I have, the more shiny things I can put in them.” To me, that’s a perfectly sensible reason. To others, not so much, but I beg of you, how is a piercing any different than getting your lady parts waxed? It hurts a bit, and in both cases there is some upkeep. For your bikini line, it’s going back again when you start getting furry again. For a piercing, it’s some fairly simple aftercare (that does NOT involve “piercing solution”).

But, you say, a piercing can get infected! Well, waxing carries the risk of ingrown hairs, which don’t seem so bad. But an ingrown hair can form a sebaceous cyst, a type of infection which you should not google unless you care to be thoroughly grossed out. If you’ve ever gotten one, you know that they can hurt a LOT. The point here isn’t to argue whether one form of beautification is better than another, but that we, as humans, do plenty of otherwise pointless, painful things for beauty’ A professional piercing is a safe and beautiful way to enhance your body.

I leave you with this article about safe, piercing gun-free piercing. Enjoy.

And here’s another recipe from Cookies by Linda Collister!  You really can’t go wrong with shortbread.  I love shortbread.

The Wiggles & Tattoos

The Wiggles.

You probably already know who they are.  Anyone who has been a child or a parent in the past 21 years HAS to know who The Wiggles are.  Unless you live under a rock.

The Wiggles are known for their distinctive costumes of colorful “skivvies” (long sleeved t-shirts) and black slacks.  Bright colors, nice and simple for their preschool audience.  But these colorful shirts serve another purpose – to cover tattoos.  Two of the five Wiggles have tattoos on their arms.
