soft pretzels

These are super easy, and super yummy!

Ingredients:
5 cups water
1/3 cup baking soda
3 cups flour (all-purpose or wheat)
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup honey or karo syrup
kosher salt, parmesan, or other toppings (I used parmesan for half and my sea salt grinder for the other half)

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.  Stir the 1/3 cup baking soda into the water in a saucepan.  Remove from heat once it comes to a boil.

Mix together flour and remaining baking soda, add in honey/syrup and buttermilk.  Dump the doughy mixture onto a floured surface and knead for a few minutes until firm.

Divide up the dough and form into whatever shape you choose.  Dip the pretzels quickly into the baking soda solution, then place onto parchment paper or a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Sprinkle with whatever topping you choose, then bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Enjoy!
